North Carolina: Vendor Submitted ICN Documents

Vendor Submitted ICN Overview

ICNs (Invoice Control Numbers) are included as part of the 837 claim files generated by CareBridge.  By default, CareBridge generates these claim numbers; however, some vendors may want to leverage the claim numbers generated by their own system in order to more easily reconcile the 835 files they receive. CareBridge will allow third-party vendors to submit ICNs with visit data once they successfully complete the following items:

  1. Complete the North Carolina ICN E-form.  This is distinct from the standard E-form and will provide us important information regarding how ICNs will be configured for each Vendor.
  2. Complete the standard testing process.  The standard testing guide is available here.  ICN testing cannot be initiated until a vendor has successfully completed the standard testing process and is able to send production data.
  3. Complete the ICN specific testing process and pass all test cases.  In order to pass test cases, vendor must be able to follow the ICN logic provided in our technical specification document below.
